The most striking thing to me about this poem is not only the declaration the Lord makes about both holding and being the key to man's salvation, but the image of the cross in the background, which, without, there would be no salvation.

I would also add, when these words were given to me, they defeated all doubt that Jesus wanted to set me free from the past. As He clearly states in His word,

 

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound." Isaiah 6:11
